Botanical Pride

Botanical Pride is my version of the PRIDE flag that represents my own sexuality as a lesbian woman. My inspiration comes straight from the rainbow itself: Mother nature gave us our identity and connects us all. Colour – in all its forms. Each colour of the pride flag has a different meaning. Red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, blue for harmony and violet for spirit.

Kylie Washington is an Interdisciplinary mixed media artist drawing from the incredible diversity of the Australian flora living and breathing around us. She uses painting, photography and digital collage as a way to navigate and make some sense of order, to affirm and glorify life. To create is to live.
For the past 20 years Kylie has worked with moving image and TV making. Her emerging career as an artist has been a natural transition of the work she’s done to date.
