I am drawn to narrative and place. Being related to a convict who arrived here in Gadigal Country with Capt. Phillip, and who settled along the Parramatta River at Kissing Point, I am apologetic of my ancestor occupying land belonging to others. Now 200 years since country was “discovered” and open for grazing, from Lake George (Weereewaa) to Port Phillip, marks the 1824 overland expedition of Hume and Hovell. This work continues my series of prints on pianola rolls of their journey, crossing of the illusive river, the Murrumbidgee, and many other rivers. The edited diary of Hovell makes note of aboriginal presence, without conceding to management of the land: footprints at river crossings, smoke signals, burning of grass for kangaroo feed, huts, fish traps.

Much of my work relates to site and has developed from my earlier life as an architect. my creative partnership in the collaboration Murray and Burgess, makes installations about the environment. Otherwise, I am a printmaker at Tiliqua Studios, working with Dr Hashim Ali.
