Moon Kerr is a current second year Bachelor of Fine Arts student at the National Art School in Sydney. As a rurally raised queer artist, their work centres on the expression of their internal world; specifically, their experience of disorientation and the ways that manifests in their life. This exploration whilst grounded in personal encounters of the world, also engages with contemporary theory. Moon is particularly interested in the theory and history of photography, how it has morphed, and the medium’s relationship with memory and truth. Photography’s mediation through printmaking, and text functioning as an item, form significant pillars of Moon’s visual language, and the ways in which they express their varied experiences of disorientation. Moon has exhibited their work in collective shows, and in 2023 held a solo exhibition. Moon’s most notable recent exhibition is Solace, a group show at Little Yellow Studio Stanmore, fundraising to support Full Stop Australia, in the fight against sexual and domestic violence.
