“I’m Elizabeth and I’m an emerging artist based in Sydney, currently an Artist-in-Residence at Gallery Lane Cove + Creative Studios. I recently had my first solo show ‘SWARM’ at Little Yellow Studio Collective in Stanmore. I’m now busy in the studio preparing for the next phase of my current body of work.
‘PESTS AND OTHER DILEMMAS’ (2023) explores notions of grief and loss through contemporary printmaking. Utilising confessional style text accompanied by isolated renderings of insects, I seek to normalise the emotional turbulence one may experience after suffering from loss (loss of loved one, relationship, home). Metaphorically speaking, the subject embodies the persistent loneliness that can linger during the early phases of heartache. These insects (mosquitoes, moths, flies) are specifically chosen for their inherited symbolism both positive and negative. By sharing my experience, I aim to achieve a sense of closeness with the viewer and offer a quiet space of solace and closure.“
