Brigitta Summers is an emerging artist and writer living and working on Gadigal and Wangal land in Sydney. She has recently completed a Master of Fine Arts at Sydney College of the Arts. Her research investigated ‘thinking with trees’ through artistic practice, primarily large-scale woodcut and site-based bookmaking as a way of transforming her relationship to the environment. Alongside this research, Brigitta has maintained a text and graphic based practice, in which she explores the aesthetic potential of language and form both visually and conceptually. Previously she completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Printmaking) at the National Art School, Sydney, and a Bachelor of Arts (History and German) at Oxford University, UK. She has been selected as a finalist in the Libris Awards, 2016.
