Through a Glass Darkly — $500 (unframed)
2024, 23 x 30.5cm, oil on board

ABOUT THE ARTIST

One interpretation of the phrase “Through a Glass Darkly” suggests having a vague or flawed perception of reality. While the painting may not directly illustrate this concept, it strangely feels apt. The wine glass distorts and exaggerates the visage of the unfortunate protagonist in the artwork. Their distorted and fragmented view of reality is intensified through the wine glass, enhanced by abstract shapes and infused with shades of magenta.

This artwork is part of a collection of still life pieces that employ common household items, notably vintage ornaments, arranged to evoke an eerie sensation. It aims to hint at the darker, unsettling aspects of what we typically consider ordinary and familiar.
