‘Like a Spell’ is a visual spell for the creative. Containing an invocation dedicated to mother earth and a sky goddess whose appearance is loosely based on the ancient Egyptian goddess Nut, with stars on her body. The invocation shares with the audience about Mira’s spiritual practice and how she would start a ritual, through visualisation and a breathing exercise. The spell itself depicts the Ouroboros, a serpent devouring its own tail, which is often used as a symbol for rebirth. This serpent frames the balance between the earth and the cosmos, a representation of harmony within the self, what is above corresponds with what is below. Through this symbolism, Mira is acknowledging the importance of balance between the physical and the spiritual in order to have a clear mind that may facilitate continuous creative work.
