ABOUT THE ARTIST
In 2021 before I started making art I was doing reviews of books I read and for these I often took photos of myself with the book cover to post online, choosing different paintings to shoot the photo with. I have hundreds of paintings in my collection and thousands of books. This book on Chinese objects was a sort of entree to making art (which I started about 9 mo after taking this photo). I like the idea of using bits of reviews in artworks, there’s something revealing about text that takes the viewer to other places. It’s intimate and relaxing, at least it is to me, as it offers a way to experience something that the artist felt when making the work.
