My art practice is continually evolving in the wider context of current critical thinking on art noting the constraints on the art canon through colonisation and its well embedded legacy. The mounting evidence of damage and intergenerational trauma through the impact of colonisation worldwide both on society and art in particular, is a major influence on my art practice. Representing the pervasive consequences of colonisation and applying the relevant concepts and techniques of decolonisation provide a critical framework for taking my art practice forward through a Te Ao Māori perspective.
