LISSA BARNUM

The Lighter Side of Magenta: A Mexican Story — $800 (unframed)
2024, 70 x 53cm, cardboard, gouache, house acrylic, and dowel

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Born and raised in Mexico, colour plays a big part in my work as do the naive interpretations of parroquial Latin America: flora, fauna, music, totems of pre-columbian history, spirituality and religion. Multi- cultural Australia recognises these stories, appreciates what it adds to our own national perspective. Vivid with a distinct totemic flavour, this piece is my story, from my conception in romantic Acapulco, this ‘not’ a Mexican girl, re-visits parts of her own cultural heritage. Designer, artist, musician, teacher, little rancho owner living down the South Coast of NSW.
