I find catharsis in creating images of discomfort. Feelings are often abstract, so abstract that words will not do. There is catharsis in creation, whether beautiful or not. Art to me is about focusing a feeling and creating something from it.

I am particularly fond of body horror, especially surrounding hands and fingers. I have created a series called “Fingerling”. These figures are adorned with far too many phalanges, so many that moving freely would cause discomfort. These are based on my own experiences in the world, though hugely amplified.

Body horror is different from gore. Gore is about the destruction of the body. Body horror is about transformation. Transformation, metamorphosis are key aspects of my work.
