LIFE DRAWING IS ON!

Bring your pencils and paper to Tiliqua Tiliqua on Monday 5 February for the very first (of many, we hope) life drawing session in the gallery. Experienced life model Marija will be posing for us. The new air conditioning will be installed. Let’s open some wine, start drawing and enjoy ourselves creatively!

Spaces are limited to 15 people. So book your place now.

2023 was an extraordinary year of growth and learning for us here at Tiliqua Tiliqua. We would like to thank all the artists and art lovers who have made it such a fun and rewarding time.

But now it is 2024. As I write this we have thirty (30!!) exhibitions booked in, so get ready for some amazing art.

We kick off on the first of February with ‘Dark Alphabet’ from long-term gallery friend, Matthew da Silva. Then we welcome guest curator Sage Blake Rivers and two provocative shows to coincide with World Pride 2024. We are also very excited to announce that February will see the first of our Life Drawing in the Gallery sessions.

Stay tuned to hear more about all these events, and the 28 other offerings we have in store. See you soon!

Not yet a ruin

After our brief break we’re back with a truly enchanting exhibition.

Andrew Ensor has been exploring castles as a visual motif for more than 20 years. This, his 37th(!) solo exhibition, is a retrospective bringing these delicate and dreamlike drawings together. His pieces, softly merging pen and paint, present a romanticised, yet fragile view of the world while exploring the aesthetics of entropy.

Drop by the gallery to experience these richly coloured worlds of surreal landscapes and architectural compositions, telling intricate stories of grandeur, fragility and timelessness.

Drinks with Andrew in the gallery 2–7pm Saturday September 23

Congratulations to Emily and Sabrina — what a turn out!

‘First Drawer’ has to have been one of our most successful shows to date. There were crowds of happy people admiring the wonderful, colourful (and affordable) prints and collages from these two talented artists, and so many sales! If you missed out this time, I believe they will be back next year…

Thank you to Emily and Sabrina, and thank you to all of you wonderful art lovers supporting us and them.

CYAN is here!

We are so excited to bring you our inaugural annual group show — CYAN.

Featuring many of the artists who have made our first year in the gallery so enjoyable, this exhibition is a celebration of the colour blue. And it truly is a celebration! The artists have responded to the theme with playful, joyful and moving artworks across an impressive range of mediums. All at a convenient size and price too.

Please come and help us mark the first anniversary of our first show in the Tiliqua Tiliqua gallery. Because the only people as important to us as the artists who have contributed, is fantastic art-loving folk who have supported us and joined us on our journey. See you at the party on Saturday 20 April!

(Or drop by anytime the gallery is open, we can probably rustle up a drink…)

GALLERY OPENING HOURS: 12–6PM THURSDAY–SUNDAY 20–30 APRIL 2023

look twice — works from the back room

While we are preparing for our next big exhibition (Cyan—it’s going to be a stunner!) we have put together a collection from our stockroom for you to enjoy (and maybe take home with you).

Drop in, we’d love to see you!

‘tRADition’ — Amy Sargeant and Nicholas

Please join us for our second glorious show helping celebrate World Pride.

Like the flag we fly for World Pride, the art-making world is a spectrum of approaches, beliefs and techniques. Amy Sargeant and Nicholas are both queer artists exploring what this means in today’s Australia. But their very different approaches and choice of media makes this exhibition an exploration of opposites and oppositions.
